Nomatic Roller Luggage Review: Is It The Best Or a Bust?

Nomatic Roller Luggage Review

The NOMATIC roller luggage is well organized and lets you get the most out of a case that seems to be nearly indestructible.

Since they released the Basics Wallet and Travel Backpack, I’ve been a backer of Nomatic on Kickstarter because they’ve proven to make proven products.

Now that we can travel again, this luggage set might be the best thing to happen to travel since sliced bread.

However, before you make any crazy decisions about what to buy, I want to help you understand what you will be purchasing.

Sometimes all a product has is hype, and I wouldn’t want you to waste your money on something that is just hype.

Nomatic has a good reputation, so I’m confident that their new product will live up to the hype.

Why so confident?

To start, I think their warranty will give you a sense of security, but I’m sure the product itself will give you even more.

So let’s get this review started and find out what Nomatic has indeed been up to.

Nomatic Roller Luggage Types

Kickstarter product videos are phenomenal because they show how amazing the product is.  With the new Nomatic Roller Luggage, they definitely didn’t miss the mark.

The three bags may seem a lot alike, but these guys give us the best explanation of what makes each of them stand on its own four wheels.

I’m also going to show you what you can expect from each piece of luggage so you can figure out which one “fits” your needs best.

Some of you might want things that have been approved by the TSA, while others might want to check their bags.

Still, some of you might feel like you need all three. Who doesn’t like a matching set? Still, some of you might feel like you need all three. Who doesn’t like a matching set?

Let’s go over each piece of luggage so you can at least see the main differences.

But before we do that, let’s talk about the main things that all three bags have in common.

Nomatic Roller Luggage Overview

All three pieces of Nomatic Roller Luggage have a Makrolon polycarbonate shell.

You can see the sledgehammer test in the GIF above.

Cheap luggage breaks all the time—well, usually exactly when you can’t afford it to break, like when you’re running late between flight connections. Sound familiar?

You’ll regret being cheap like me. Nomatic Roller Luggage will save you money in the long run. It will last longer, and peace of mind is priceless in my book.

Quality is built into this luggage from the ground up. No literally. It all starts with the Hinomoto wheels. High-performance 360-degree spinner wheels that make navigating airports at any speed a breeze.

The bags also come equipped with the coveted YKK zippers. YKK is commonly known as the #1 zipper brand on the market.

Every high-quality bagmaker employs them, including 5.11 Tactical.

These come standard on Nomatic Luggage, so you won’t have zipper issues like with cheaper luggage.

This suitcase has TSA locks for further security while traveling.

This is only the bare minimum, so let’s see what else these have in store.

The Carry-On Classic ($399)

Nomatic Carry-On Classic

The Nomatic Carry-On Classic maximizes capacity in an indestructible case.

The smallest piece of luggage in the collection, but one of my favorites.

I don’t like checking bags if I don’t have to.

The Carry-On Classic has enough space for shorter trips and can fit in the overhead compartment.

This is the least expensive of the three, but it misses several of Nomatic’s best features. Those were included in the Carry-On Pro.

The Carry-On Pro ($549)

Carry-On Pro

Let’s talk about the ultimate carry-on. The Carry-On Pro.

This luggage is amazing in every way.

I’ll skip all the nonsense and get right to the one thing that makes this luggage stand out from its siblings and other options.

The tech compartment is a game changer.

No one enjoys going through TSA when their bag is full of electronics: a laptop, cell phone, tablet, chargers, and other things that need to be taken out.

Even though I usually carry my laptop in my backpack, this is why I’m excited about the Carry-On Pro.

Any traveler will be blown away by how easy it is to get here.

This tech case has three sections: a quick-access pocket for small items; an accessories section with three mesh pockets and two pen sleeves; and a space for a laptop, tablet, or other device in the third section.

One important thing to know about the carry-on pro is that if you need more space for clothes, you can remove the tech case and put clothes in this compartment.

This means that the carry-on pro has the same amount of space as the carry-on classic, but it’s organized differently.

I typically wouldn’t need any more space than what the carry-on luggage offers since I prefer to pack light and take shorter trips; however, the Check-In luggage gives you ample space for those longer trips when you just need a bit more room.

The Check-In ($599)

Nomatic Check-In Luggage

The name says it all. This is the largest piece of luggage that Nomatic makes.

The Check-In is for trips that last more than three days and is not meant to follow you on the plane.

One of the unique features of the Check-In is its expansion capabilities. A full perimeter zipper around the outside of the bag allows it to expand from 78 to 90 liters, allowing you to carry everything you could possibly need for five, six, or seven days, however you pack.

On the inside of this bag, they’ve added two ways to organize and compress your gear.

On one side of the bag, they’ve added a magnetic compression panel, and this panel itself is actually a compression strap. You can also customize what you compress and what you don’t. This feature comes in handy depending on what you’re packing.

On to the other side there is a mesh wall that has two pockets on it for smaller items like socks, belts, underwear, and other small things like that. It also offers a perimeter zipper around the mesh wall which opens up to give you tons of volume on the side of the bag with some smaller pockets on the side wall for additional smaller items

It’s the ideal travel companion for trips lasting five or more days, and we can’t wait to discover where the nomadic check-in takes you.

Underseat Roller Luggage

Being able to fit your luggage under the seat in front of you should be a significant factor when choosing the right luggage. Underseat roller luggage, also known as carry-on roller luggage, has several advantages:

Convenience: Underseat roller luggage is designed to fit easily in the overhead compartment or under the seat of an airplane, train, or bus, which means you don’t have to worry about finding space for it in the overhead compartment or checking it in. This can be especially useful if you’re traveling with just a carry-on bag and want to avoid the hassle of checking in luggage.

Size: Underseat roller luggage is usually smaller in size than traditional luggage, which makes it easier to carry and store when not in use. It’s also a good choice for shorter trips when you don’t need to pack as much.

Weight: Underseat roller luggage is generally lighter than traditional luggage, which can be a big advantage if you’re trying to avoid paying excess baggage fees.

Mobility: The wheels on underseat roller luggage make it easy to move around airports, train stations, and other busy travel hubs. This can be especially useful if you have to walk long distances or navigate crowded spaces.

Security: Underseat roller luggage is typically more secure than traditional luggage because it stays with you throughout the duration of your trip. This can give you peace of mind if you’re traveling with valuable items or documents.

The Price

Only one thing keeps me from owning way too much travel luggage. Price.

Luggage is expensive.

When it comes to luggage, it’s quality over quantity every time.

Although the Nomatic Roller Luggage is not an exception to higher prices, I believe their cost is fairly fair given what they can achieve and, more importantly, their quality.

We now know that there are three different types of luggage, each with a different price.

The Carry-On Classic is the most affordable of the group and costs about $379.

The Carry-On Pro costs about $499, so you should budget an additional $100 if you want it.

The most expensive of the three is the Check-In, which costs $549.

The nice thing is that purchasing multiple pieces of luggage will allow you to save money.

Make sure you check out the Nomatic website because they are always running deals, offering free shipping, and even running contests where they give away free luggage!

Roller Luggage Review – Final Verdict

A great purchase

Set the cost of luggage aside for this purchase.

“Do it right or don’t do it at all.” There’s a reason that quote is so widely used: it’s true, especially when it comes to luggage.

Nomatic’s products are high-quality and come with a lifetime warranty, but they are also very useful.

Any of the Nomatic luggage is recommended, and I believe you’ll appreciate what you get.

Thank you for taking the time to read this review of the Nomatic Roller Luggage.

Hopefully this has provided you with the information you need to make a better purchasing decision.
